A paralegal/legal assistant may not practice law, give legal advice, or represent clients in a court of law.
CCC&TI offers several different educational programs in this area:
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Paralegal Program is designated as a Qualified Paralegal Studies Program by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Paralegal Certification. Graduates earning an A.A.S. degree are eligible to take the Paralegal Certification Exam administered by the North Carolina State Bar.

The mission of the Paralegal Technology program of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute includes—but is not limited to—the following goals:
- To deliver consistently high-quality instruction to students in the paralegal technology program at a convenient time and place.
- To provide a high quality paralegal program.
- To provide high quality certificate, diploma, and associate degree in the paralegal program.
- To provide general interest paralegal courses for students within the service area.
