Cancellation Policy:
Please be aware that every class has a minimum required enrollment, and the college reserves the right to cancel courses due to low enrollment. Should you have further questions, please contact Continuing Education and Workforce Development at 828.726.2242 (Caldwell) or 828.297.8120 (Watauga).
Refund Policy:
Cobra Super Summer Youth Camps are considered self-supporting classes. As such, there is NO refund for self-supporting courses as these programs are funded entirely by class registration fees, unless cancelled by the college for low enrollment or other extenuating circumstances.
Days, Times, and Cost:
Cobra Super Summer Youth Camps run Mondays through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and registration cost for each session is $100 (unless otherwise noted).
Drop-off & Pick-Up Procedures:
A parent/guardian may drop off their child/children no earlier than 30-minutes before the start of class, and pick-up no later than 30-minutes after the end of class at the designated drop-off/pick-up location (see below).
Food & Drinks:
A mid-morning snack and drink will be provided each day to each camper. You can send your child with their own snacks and lunch, if desired. Please DO NOT send anything with nuts, including peanut butter.
| 15-18 | Basic Car Care 101 |
Learning to drive a car is a really exciting time in any young person’s life, but learning to “take care of a car” is almost just as important! Students will roll up their sleeves and learn how to check tire pressure, change a tire, install brakes, check the oil, change and refill automotive fluids, inspect engine hoses and belts, jump a battery, use car lifts and jacks, build an emergency kit, and perform other minor quick fixes. The session will be taught by a licensed automotive service technician/instructor in our automotive lab. |

| 15-18 | Basketball & Martial Arts “Combo” Camp |
Enroll your kids for an action-packed week of basketball and martial arts! In this 2-in-1 “combo” camp, students will get to learn basketball skills like proper shooting, dribbling, and passing techniques, rebounding, offense and defensive play, and team-building plus learn the grappling-based form of martial arts from a black-belt instructor on how to defend yourself, while building the mental and emotional skill sets like confidence, focus, and discipline. Each day, students will be separated into different age/skill groups and participate in each sport for two-hours, then switch to the other sport for the remaining 2-hours. • Students will need to wear gym clothes, socks, tennis shoes and bring a water bottle with their name on it.

Join us to learn the basics of how to roll, coil, and sculpt air dry clay. In addition to creating a variety of clay pieces, students will be introduced to many different types of age-appropriate media, including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, weaving, and creating much more. Explore careers in the health or medical field such as nursing, medical assisting, phlebotomy, radiography, imaging, nuclear medicine, speech language, pharmacy tech, OMP, Massage therapy, human services, and more! Skilled Trades Exploration Camp |
Do you enjoy fixing things, building things, and solving problems without being stuck behind a desk? Demand for skilled trade jobs is high, and the supply to fill them is low. This exploratory camp is designed to give students the opportunity to experience many different high-demand skilled trades like carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and welding all-in-one location. | 7-9 (T-TH) | Public Services Exploration Camp |
Does your child talk about what it would be like to be a firefighter, police officer or paramedic? Does he or she have an interest in saving lives? Learn the hands-on skills required in EMS, firefighting, and law enforcement. Topics include an overview of emergency medical services, firefighting and law enforcement from certified instructors in the field. Topics include first aid and CPR, fire extinguisher safety and training, simulated EMS scenarios, and physical training. Would you like to know what it is like to be an engineer? The program is ideal for students who are considering a degree or career in engineering, as well as for those that are curious to learn more. Learn to think like engineers while building critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills. Find out how engineering is applied in the real world, and how it’s shaping our future. Students will get to design, create, and produce 3D products just like an engineer by making things like rockets, Legos, bridges, and much more. Additionally, students will have fun tackling a variety of engineering challenges and there will also be an engineering challenge contest held each day for added excitement.

Outdoors Adventure Camp Drop-off Times: 7:30 – 8am Pick-up Times: 12:30 – 1pm |
Three full days of exciting outdoor adventure await you! Learn how to climb, hike, play disk golf, gain an introduction to first aid for explorers, and experiencing kayaking – while also learning how to practice safe outdoor skills, teamwork, and environmental awareness. We will partner with Rock Dimensions in Boone for guided half-day climbing tower sessions. Students will learn how to properly wear a harness, tie knots, use verbal commands and focus on climbing technique and safety. Students will also have the opportunity to identify different plants and tree species while on the trail. Emphasis will be “hands-on” learning about fitness, ecology, environmental science, collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Additionally, students will enjoy team building activities and explore Lake Hickory by hiking and kayaking and also play disk golf at nearby Redwood Park in Hudson, while being introduced to basic first aid for explorers.
