This is a 328 hour course designed to give students an understanding in the basic skills and techniques necessary to maintain high voltage equipment and protective systems for the electric utility transmission system.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, Substation Maintenance and Relay Tech students will:

  • Learn the basic skills and techniques necessary to maintain and troubleshoot high voltage equipment and protective systems for the electric utility transmission system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the operation and maintenance of associated transmission infrastructure and substation procedure.
  • Work safely on high voltage electric power systems, etc.
  • Be prepared for employment as a substation technician upon successful completion of the program.
