Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s women’s volleyball team is ranked eighth in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division-Three preseason rankings that were released earlier this week.
Two-time defending national champions Dallas College Eastfield are the number one team in the preseason rankings. Region 10 Division Three defending champions Sandhills Community College are ranked fifth.
The Cobras return five players off of last season’s team that went 23-4 and were runner-up in Region 10 Division-Three. Top returners for Caldwell include Kelsey Plumley and Destiny Jordan. Plumley was a NJCAA Division-Three First Team All-American selection and the Region 10 Division-Three Player of the Year. Jordan was a second team All-Region 10 Division-Three selection. Caldwell finished 12th in the final NJCAA Division-Three rankings for 2024.
Brian Harris returns for his fourth season as the head coach of Caldwell. The Cobras are 53-29 under his direction, including back-to-back 23-win seasons. Caldwell alum Catherine Pate begins her second season as assistant coach.
Caldwell will open the 2025 season on Saturday, August 23 with a match in Raleigh, NC against Wake Tech. September 5-6, the Cobras will travel to Glen Ellyn, IL to participate in the College of DuPage Invitational. There, Caldwell will face top-ranked Dallas College Eastfield, second ranked College of DuPage, and sixth ranked Dallas College North Lake. The Cobras will play at fifth ranked Sandhills on September 13 before hosting the Flyers on October 4.
Caldwell’s home opener will be September 9 at 6:00PM against USC-Union. Admission is $5; CCC&TI faculty/staff and students are admitted free with their CCC&TI ID.
