Volleyball Suffers First Loss of the 2025 Season at Southwest Virginia

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team lost their first match of the season, falling in five sets at Southwest Virginia Community College on Thursday night in Cedar Bluff, VA.  

All five sets were determined by two points, with three of the five sets going to extra points.  Caldwell (2-1) won the first set 29-27 and the second set 27-25 before falling 23-25 in sets three and four.  Southwest Virginia (2-3) won the deciding fifth set by a score of 16-14.

Destiny Jordan led the teams in blocks with 21 to go along with four serving aces and four block assists.  Tatiana Bailey registered 18 kills while Lyrical Edwards had 16 kills.  Caldwell was led in assists by Lydia Jones with 33 and Taylor McClure with 36.  

Defensively, Gracie McClure had 32 digs while Edwards and Taylor McClure had 14 and 13 respectively.

Caldwell will travel next weekend to Glen Elyn, IL, where they will participate in the College of DuPage Invitational.  The Cobras will face Dallas College North Lake and College of DuPage on Friday, before taking on Dallas College Eastfield and Joliet Junior College on Saturday.
