Registration Fee – $182

Many trainees receive training in basic upholstery at vocational schools and community colleges. Most employers prefer to hire high school graduates.

Salaries based upon local industry average range from $21,600 to $49,800 annually.

They produce new furniture such as sofas, armchairs, ottomans and dining room chairs. They also restore worn upholstered furniture. A skilled upholsterer is able to combine a knowledge of fabrics, leathers, and other materials with an artistic flair and technical skills. Upholsterers should have an eye for detail and enjoy working with their hands.

Introduction to Upholstery is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to become an entry-level upholsterer. In addition, students will learn the soft skills needed for employment. The course includes core skills, training in upholstery manufacturing concepts, tools and safety, and training in employability skills, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking.
