The Biotechnology curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for employment in pharmaceutical manufacturing and related industries.

Graduates will qualify for numerous positions within the industry. Employment opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will develop sound knowledge and skills in the basic sciences, communication, major technologies, Quality Systems, safety practices, and current Good Manufacturing Practices essential for successful employment in pharmaceutical manufacturing and related biotechnology industries and laboratories.
  2. Students will obtain in-depth, hands-on experience with pharmaceutical industry standard equipment and tools in cleanroom and laboratory environments: conducting manufacturing, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance processes.
  3. Students will be exposed to local and regional employers and will obtain skills in the techniques used most by those industries.
  4. Students will develop collaborative and disciplined work ethics while consistently practicing problem-solving skills.

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s (CCC&TI) Biotechnology program offers a comprehensive curriculum in bioprocessing that includes hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art cleanroom and lab. Our biopharmaceutical cleanrooms have the technology to facilitate simulated drug development and contract manufacturing, and we have leading experts to train not only students CCC&TI but also employees in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical and other life science field. Hands-on training including tablet- and capsule-making technologies, tablet film coating machines, and injectable filling systems; and access to some of the region’s foremost experts in pharmaceutical training and manufacturing. This program is supported by an active advisory board comprised of leading regional life-science companies.
