Cobra Volleyball Opens 2025 Season with Five-Set Win at Wake Tech

The Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team won in five-sets against Wake Tech in Raleigh on Saturday to open the 2025 season.

The Cobras (1-0) opened the match by winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-13.  Wake Tech (1-1) held on to win set three by a score of 25-23.  The Eagles overcame a deficit in the fourth set to win 25-22 and force a decisive fifth set.  The Cobras took control of set five early and won 15-10 to take the match 3-2.

Caldwell libero Gracie McClure had 17 digs on the day and led the team in serve-receive.  Offensively, she had four assists and five service aces.

Julie Burleson and Lyrical Edwards each had 14 kills to lead the Cobras.  Edwards also had 11 digs.  Destin Jordan had seven digs to go along with seven kills, and she led the team with three block assist and two solo blocks.  Tatiana Bailey added seven kills.

Caldwell saw eight different players register at least one assist.

Caldwell travels to USC-Union on Tuesday night for a 6PM match.
