Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team opened the home portion of their 2025 schedule with a 3-0 win over USC-Union on Tuesday night in Hudson.
Caldwell, ranked sixth in Monday’s latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division Three poll, won in straight sets to even their overall record at 4-4. The Cobras complete the season sweep of the Region 10 Division One Bantams, who they defeated also in straight sets at Union on August 26.
Caldwell dominated set one, winning 25-9. The Cobras fell behind in set two, trailing by as many as eight points but took their first lead in the set at 16-15, in the midst of an 8-0 run. The Cobras would close out the set 25-21.
Trailing two sets to none, USC-Union again took an early lead against the hosts in set three, 6-2. Caldwell took their first lead in the set at 10-9 and never trailed again, going on to win the set 25-19 to close out the match.
Rebecca Bertoni and Destiny Jordan led the team in kills with eight each and both had a 0.667 hitting percentage. Taylor McClure had 16 assists while Lydia Jones had 15. Defensively, Gracie McClure had 14 digs to go along with Lyrical Edwards’ 10.
Caldwell will play at home again on Thursday when they welcome Clinton College JV at 6:30PM.
