Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute’s volleyball team ran their current winning streak to five matches by sweeping a tri-match Saturday at Patrick & Henry Community College in Martinsville, VA.
The Cobras took down the host Patriots in straight sets (25-20, 25-8-, 25-7) before winning a five-set thriller against Pellissippi State Community College (23-25, 25-20, 8-25, 26-24, 17-15).
Caldwell’s Lyrical Edwards had 22 kills and four service aces in both matches combined. Rebecca Bertoni had a total of 18 kills with Tatiana Bailey adding 13 kills. Bailey led the team in hitting during the Pellissippi State match, include a key kill late in the deciding fifth set.
Taylor McClure had 27 assists on the day for Caldwell while sister Gracie McClure led the team with 38 digs.
Caldwell’s record now stands at 10-5 (1-1 Region 10 D-3). Due to a scheduling conflict with officials, the Cobras’ next home match against Southwest Virginia Community College has been postponed until Tuesday, October 14 at 6:00PM. Caldwell is scheduled to return to action on September 30 at Central Carolina Community College at 6:00PM.
